Steel Structure made of 2”x2”x1/8” hot rolled square tubing
10′ x 10′ x 11′
3 m x 3 m x 3.35 m

Cubitat is a Canadian concept for urban living. The idea is to create a free standing unit which includes all the components for apartment living that can be transported to different spaces. For this project we worked in partnership with Forged Design. We had to make a 10’x10’x11′ metal structure of 2”x2” square tubing. Our specific task was to problem-solve the conversion from metric to imperial measurements in order to be able to build the structure using North American standards. The challenge was to build a precise frame so that the other teams involved (carpenters/ electricians…) could add prefabricated components to this “product of architecture”. Once the kitchen, bathroom, bed and appliances were installed the ultimate challenge was to move the entire finished Cube to the Convention centre in Downtown Toronto.
