Physalis – a wooden sphere light

Cherrywood / Brass
24″ dia.
60cm dia.

Based on geodesic rotegrity design, these handcrafted spheres are made of 90 steam bent cherrywood sticks. All those sticks are cut, drilled, sanded, varnished by hand, and fastened together with solid brass hardware, just steps from Geary avenue, in our studio in Toronto. It creates a ‘shade’ that casts geometrical patterns when the light is turned on.

Physalis is a fruit, also known as Husk Cherry or Ground Cherry, and our Physalis Light was named to reference its shape, where the bulb is the fruit and the shade, the dried husk.

The Physalis lights exists in both pendant and floor version and are ETL certified.
